the circle
So one of my favorite reality shows of 2020 is back with a second season, and yes, I’m talking about The Circle (if you don’t want spoilers from the first few eps, scroll down to “what else i’m reading.”
There is nothing that can compare to the magic that was Season 1, where against all odds I and all of America ended up loving the most bro-y douchebag-y Jersey boy of all time, Joey.
So far season 2 is trying to exceed that with all these new bells & whistles (whatever the inner circle is). TBD if that ends up working. But I, after watching one season, now feel like I’m an expert and I’d like to address Savannah.
I was absolutely Team Savannah over Team Terilisha. I thought that Terilisha was sort of misleading everyone when she told Chloe that Savannah wasn’t there to stick up for her, even though Savannah said during the influencer meeting that she didn’t want to send Chloe home because of that “girl group.”
But I think Savannah made a few fatal flaws. She absolutely should have saved Chloe after Terilisha saved Emily. If she had done that, none of this drama would’ve happened. That’s flaw #1. But flaw #2 was when she took Terilisha’s bait. I get it, it’s tough when people are coming at you, and she was asked who she trusted least, but it would’ve been very easy for her to just say Lance Bass…because it makes no sense for an actual pop star to be playing for this game?
Anyways, my strategy for The Circle is just being as nice as you can (but not too nice that people think you’re fake) — and Savannah should’ve had that strategy in mind before she went for all-out war with Terilisha.
Can’t wait for the next few episodes to drop — if I have any thoughts on those will be sure to include those here!

The Wrap: ‘Bachelor’ Fans Are Fine With Colton Underwood Coming Out – But Not With How He Treated Cassie, by Andi Ortiz
This piece pretty much sums up how I feel about the Colton Underwood news — though I will say that there are homophobic Bachelor fans as well as racist Bachelor fans and that’s all part of the problem with the franchise as a whole.
So, while some hope to see Underwood return to the franchise, starring in a second season as the first gay Bachelor following today’s news, others decidedly do not. “Full offense but I don’t want someone who stalked and harassed his ex to the point of getting a restraining order, to be the first gay prime time bachelor,” one person tweeted.
Rolling Stone: Queer Punk Band With Ties to Dr. Luke Sparks Backlash on TikTok, by Claire Shaffer
I love TikTok for flagging sagas like this one for me. Though I will reiterate as this piece does that they sadly are not the only people in the music industry who still work with Dr. Luke.
Also, the band wrote this in their defense if you want to get a fuller picture of what’s going on.
The Tramp Stamps became the subject of widespread backlash across TikTok — and later, by extension, Twitter and Reddit — for allegedly being “industry plants” who have co-opted queer identity and a “punk” aesthetic for their own career gains.
